Meet the Team

Arthur is the ultimate gentleman. This chunky monkey's happy place is hacking out over the farm, but he's done a little bit of everything in his time.

Scooby is a nine year old standardbred and the ultimate husband's horse. He's a lovely quiet fellow, great for beginners.

Sterling had an illustrious racing career in Hong Kong, consisting of one race, where he came last.

His talents lie elsewhere: he holds the record for having the most time off due injury of any horse at Pleasant View. If there's an accident waiting to happen, he'll find it!

While he's a bit of a doof-head, he really is a lovely horse who looks after beginner riders and is happy to plod along or go faster if he really needs to.

Prior to coming to Pleasant View Elmo was owned by one family where he went to pony club and did trekking. Elmo is well suited to a wide range of riders and loves jumping. An ideal horse to learn on!

Bailey is registered with AQHANZ and NZ Golden Horse society and he's a seriously cool happy hacker. He spent his younger years as a stock horse on a South Island Station, and he's been a full wire hunter, a national champion buckskin and is full brother of the eight time barrel racing champion Mt Albert Roc.

Lena arrived unhandled and pregnant from Helena Bay in the Far North in 2017. She has mostly been clicker trained, and is super snuggly.

Tommy is a very sweet horse with lots of character. As an ex-eventer, he requires firm boundaries because he can be a bit bossy. He can be nervous of irrigators (when they are operating) but we are working on this.

Suit intermediate to experienced riders.

Dino was born on Remembrance Day 2012 and joined the PV team in May 2024 from Te Puke. He was originally sold at the 2014 Ready to Run Sale by Lyndhurst Farm to race in Hong Kong for $220,000 under the name of Superior Boy. His racing career spanned over 38 starts, winning $2,500,000. Dino is suited to intermediate - advanced riders.

Sinatra is the first to greet you in the paddock as if you’re an old friend. He has a playful streak — his favourite toy is a giant Swiss ball, and he’ll proudly show off his dribbling skills if you give him the chance! He also loves picking up road cones and tossing them around. Sinatra is a lovable goofball who adores interacting with people (and ideally getting a good bum scratch!) and will give you plenty of laughs.

Sinatra trots beautifully and is working on building confidence in his canter.

Zorro is a 12yo pony with a great walk. He's unphased by turkeys, peacocks, trains blowing past, but he can be a little nervous of bigger horses coming too close. He's wary about having his ears touched, but loves a cookie!

Midge  has done heaps of forest/clinics/SJ/and a distance ride as well beach, bush and farm riding, and loves the water. 

Midge had a year of schooling with The Unicorn Project and attended lessons with Kirsten Kelly, Lisa Harwood, and Cheski Brown. 

Daniel's dedicated superstar RDA pony, Ngaio is learning to be ridden without any use of seat aids.

Gemma is a Hispano-Arab (Andalusian x Arabian) mare and is 14.2HH. She has trekked over all sorts of mountainous and coastal terrain like a mountain goat. She's been through rivers and mudflats and has never put a foot wrong. She is happy being a leader or at the back. Previously a broodmare, she has had two foals to Friesian Stallion Jorrit S.

Purchased in 2017 Blue was ridden by two teenagers primarily at home because he had a floating accident which had left him with equine PTSD. Blue is best suited to intermediate to experienced riders as he can be a bit of a worrywart. He's a sweet, new-age guy who just wants love!

Troy is tall, dark and handsome and has competed at Grand Prix Showjumping. His owners Daniel and Chrissy Webb bred him, his dam, and his grand-dam, so he's pretty special.

Although Troy is no longer able to jump, he was too good a horse to have hanging around in Hunterville getting bored. When he was offered to us as a long term lease I thought how lucky are we!!

Darci is from excellent bloodlines (but he looks like he could be Arthur’s taller cousin!) and he’s a bit of a goof!

He’s been hacked, attended lessons, and lightly competed at riding and pony club days in Wellington.

Darci is sensible and enjoyable to ride out in open spaces, happy cantering through paddocks with elastic paces and a soft contact. He eats anything but his favourite food is bananas.

Jose is just a young guy, he was born in 2024 and is currently turned out to grow. Once he's grown up and started, he'll join the hitch a ride team. (Jose's Mum is Gemma.)

This boy sure can boogie!

Merc competed to L6 dressage and was purchased as a schoolmaster in 2019. He certainly has fancy buttons installed, often showing them in the middle of a dressage test just because he could. Merc was retired to be a happy hacker on veterinary advice in 2024. Merc is best suited to Intermediate+ to Advanced riders.

Cloud has been used as a farm and trekking happy hacker. He is happy and bold to pop over jumps and logs, and has done horse sports and gymkhanas. Cloud joined the PV Team in October 2025 after being purchased from Jo Price in Whakatane. While he's very kind, Cloudy takes his confidence from his rider, so is best partnered with someone brave.

Lady came to Pleasant View in 2021 as an unhandled in-foal mare from The Wild Horse Project in Northland. She is named after Daniel’s (now retired) Paediatrician Dr Eleanor Charmichael. She gave birth to a lovely filly foal in September 2021 who I named Kahu.

She was started under saddle in May 2023 and being an older mare (10 years of age when mustered) has taken a little bit longer to become accustomed to domestic life. Lady is a kind pony who wants to do her best for you but is still struggling to find her brave in a world full of scary things. She’s best suited to confident kids or small adults who don’t mind the odd spook and can give her the courage she needs to get out and do it. She loves a good sprint up a hill and playing splashies in the concrete troughs.

Fran is an awesome trekking mare, and is equally happy to head out for a wander or go a bit faster. She previously hunted for 12 fun-filled seasons, had two foals and then spent several years happy hacking before coming to Pleasant View.

Sugar is a 14yo forward ride who loves to jump! She's best suited to confident kids who don't mind a little pep in their step!

Breeze is currently on Mum duties, but will eventually join the hitch a ride team. She's named for the sea breezes of her East coast hometown

Crunchie is in foal to Mitana's Avita Image, and due to foal next season.
